Another successful Gala
Thankfully the weather held out and people once again flocked to Portchester Gala to see the spectacular parade, visit stalls, eat candy floss and enjoy the fun fair!
2018 saw an extended Parade route starting from Wicor School and progressing down White Hart Lane and into Castle Street. It was well supported and spectators were entertained by Egyptian belly dancers, themed floats, baton twirlers, groups in fancy dress and a marching band.
The Gala was officially opened by Hampshire Deputy County Commissioner, Theresa Ginn and Chairman Peter Moody. The Rev Ian Meredith from St. Mary’s Church did a fantastic job introducing acts in the arena including the Caledonian Pipe Band, dance and gymnastics groups and finishing with a Tug of War competition.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered, took part in the parade, marshalled, contributed raffle prizes, donated to the buckets, the stall holders, the classic car owners and of course the wonderful crowds who came down to the castle enjoy Portchester Gala this Saturday. As the Gala is a celebration of our village, this event could not go ahead without the support from our wonderful and proud community, so thank you Portchester for making it another amazing gala. We cannot wait to do it all again next year!
Also thank you to Kev Chip Wrapson and Trev Harman for the use of the photos.
